4 is the new 2

Jan 26, 2010 at 08:53

I can not believe the wee man is 4 years old. It just seems like yesterday we were bringing him home from the hospital.

We had a little party and his cousins came over. Lots of fun and at the end of the night before going to bed Ben said to me, "Mama, I don't want to grow up. Put a brick on my head so I will stay little and you'll keep feeding me my supper."

How I love my monkey.

Ben's Garden

Jan 21, 2010 at 05:55

Yesterday Ben and I were cuddled on the sofa watching an old episode of Scooby-Doo. He looked at me and said, "You know what I want to do mama? I want to grow flowers and sell them at the farmer's market."

I looked at him trying to figure out where in the world he came up with this idea. I though about this for a while, talked to Ken about it, and decided who am I to crush this kid's plan.

I sat down with Ben over dinner and explained to him what he needed to do. We would have to fill out an application for a table at the farmer's market (he asked if I could do that for him), he would need to go through my Burpee catalog and decide what he wanted to grow, get the seeds/supplies, plant them and care for them until they are ready to cut and take to market.

He asked if he had to use his own money for the table, supplies. I asked him if he intended on keeping the money made and he said yes. Well guess what monkey, there is your answer. ^_^

He accepted this with a little hesitation.

First thing this morning he was excited to start his day. He woke me up bright and early saying we needed to start "our good plan". So we made a list and hit the store to get the goods.

We got home, got everything organized and planted a few seeds just to start and see how things run. We're saving the good peat pots for the veggie seeds/plants he intends to sell and are using less expensive supplies for the flowers he intends to cut (so the cups can be reused next season, if he intends to continue this endeavor). I picked up some recycled restaurant trays from an equipment supplies store and off we go.

Here are a couple of shots of the end of our day. I'll keep you posted on how things go!

Oh, Ben said he needed a name for his business/project and thought My Garden sounded good, when I asked if he meant Ben's Garden he thought about it for a minute and shouted, "Yes!"

So Ben's little business is called Ben's Garden. Look for it in the future.

Happy New Year 2010

Jan 3, 2009 at 10:01

Happy New Year everyone out there in blog land!

I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and fantastic New Year.

We were very low key here. Ben went to his Avo's and dear husband and I went to dinner and movie. We saw Sherlock Holmes. Better than I thought it was going to be, though I still prefer the movies with Basil Rathbone.

Anyhow, I started a small list of resolutions.

On top is to clean and organize my sewing space before I lose it to babe number 2. We'll see how far I get. Of course, I would get a lot farther if I could get Ken out of my space first. But to get Ken out of my space we would need to finish the garage. Boy, it is a vicious cycle.

Small list I know, but all the other resolutions will come with time.

Bye.

Here we grow!

Dec 2, 2009 at 04:26

I did not realize until today how long I had been gone.

Sorry about that, but in my defense I feel I have a pretty good excuse.

After weeks of feeling exhausted and under the weather I decided it was time I took "the test".

Boy o' boy did I pass with flying colors.

Please meet the newest addition to our family.

We've nicknamed it Blueberry and are due July 2010.

More to come.

La Casa has a new look

Nov 8, 2009 at 07:16

It's not quite finished, but it still looks fabulous and finished enough to show off.

La Casa before:

The little pink La Casa now:

The porch details:

Everything looks great. I could not be more happy with the colors, even if my husband still shakes his head at the pink color we settled on.

Now I can not wait for Spring to arrive to work on the landscaping.

Have a fantastic Sunday everyone!

Happy Halloween from your neighborhood Spider-Man

Oct 31, 2009 at 10:42

You know... I was really looking forward to sewing Little B's costume this year.

However, he had a different idea. He wanted to be Spider-Man. While I did want to make his costume, I didn't want to search long and hard for the right colors and textures of the red and blue and then still have to be creative on the spider and the web.

So after a quick trip to a big box store and $15 dollars later... Viola!

I give you Spider-Man.

Happy Halloween everybody.
